Carnival is celebrating its 30th birthday this year
and will be every bit as lively as you would expect.
Help contribute to the success of the liveliest, wildest
and craziest carnival costume band ever, Playmas Montreal.
With something for everyone, Playmas Montreal promises
just as much fun as it has done year after year.
On
Saturday, July 3, 2004 in downtown Montreal, Playmas
Montreal expects to set Montreal ablaze with their fantasy
theme portrayal “KARNIVAL KLASSICS”. This
theme represents carnival as living theatre, a festival
of dance and an exciting explosion of costumes, colour
and calypso. “KARNIVAL KLASSICS”, for the
30th anniversary of Montreal Carnival, will depict fantasy
creatures from designers Walter Elliott and Errol Phillip.
Men and women will depict the purest traditions present
in Carnival, like the “Pierrots Granade”,
“Midnight Robbers”, “the traditional
Sailor mas” and “the Jab Molassis”,
who will never be driven to extinction. The ingenuity
of our costume designers will show off the features
of our island women while incorporating the beads and
braids that mark the carnivals of today. PLAY MAS WITH
